About the Founder
Lucy Mahaffey is a junior at the University of Oklahoma. She discovered that human trafficking existed when she was twelve years old. She was determined to make a difference and has been actively fighting it since. At age nineteen, she received a grant from Davis Projects for Peace. She used it to work with a local OKC production company called Storyspace Media to create H.O.P.E. Student Awareness Project. Lucy has met survivors of Oklahoman child sex trafficking and has also seen what a small group of determined students can accomplish. She knows that together we can eradicate this issue!
HOPE Student Awareness is for students, by students, empowering them to eradicate human trafficking. HOPE focuses on sex trafficking. Labor trafficking is also a large issue in both Oklahoma and the United States. For more on this, look here.
